Fellowship
Prof. Y. K. Sarin was awarded the prestigious Fellowship of National Academy of Medical
Sciences (India) (FAMS-Pediatric Surgery) on 27 October, 2007 at Amritsar. Before him,
there are only dozen Pediatric Surgeons from India who have been awarded FAMS
including the previous Head of the Department Director Professor Dr. S. Talwar.

Prof. Y. K. Sarin actively participated in “Free operative camp” at GB Pant Govt. Hospital, Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands under the banner COPS – IAPS (Community oriented Pediatric Surgery) in February 2007.

Prof. Y.K. Sarin continues to be on editorial boards of three reputed national journals, namely, Indian Pediatrics, Indian Journal of Pediatrics and Journal of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons, besides being reviewer to some more Journals including Indian Journal of Urology.

Prof. S. K. Aggarwal advanced the laparoscopic surgery in the Department of Pediatric Surgery with over 70 laparoscopic procedures done in the year 2007. First laparoscopic pull-through procedure in Lok nayak Hospital was performed for Hirschsprung’s disease. He also performed laparoscopic hernia repair in a 47-day-old infant.
