DAY 3 (20TH Feb): ADVANCED HANDS-ON WORKSHOP*

  • AIRWAY ASSESSMENT & ITS CLINICAL APPLICATION
  • Quick identification of potentially difficult airway for development of plan(s) to circumvent the anticipated difficulty
  • AIRWAY IMAGING & ITS CLINICAL APPLICATION
  • Role of X-Ray, CT & MRI in evaluating airway
  • LOCAL ANESTHESIA FOR AIRWAY
  • So that the patient allows airway management comfortably while awake
  • BAG-MASK VENTILATION FOR DIFFICULT AIRWAY
  • To ensure adequate ventilation using bag-mask in difficult situations such as edentulous, bearded, morbidly obese patients etc.
  • LARYNGOSCOPY, INTUBATION IN DIFFICULT AIRWAY
  • To ensure that the first attempt of laryngoscopy and teacheal intubation is the best attempt; and if this fails, what are the corrective steps required before the next attempt utilizing various maneuvers and devices available
  • To choose the correct type of ETT, use the correct technique of introduction, fixation and cuff inflation in order to minimize intubation related morbidity in cases of difficult airway
  • NASOTRACHEAL (VISUAL, BLIND) INTUBATION
  • When and why is nasotracheal intubation required
