INVITATION
DEPARTMENT OF ANESTHESIOLOGY, INTENSIVE CARE
& PERIOPERATIVE MEDICINE
MAMC & ASSOCIATED HOSPITALS, NEW DELHI. INDIA
WELCOMES YOU
Dear friends,
It gives us immense pleasure to inform you
that after very well received airway workshops AIRWAY-2004 at
MAMC in February 2004 and then at Govt. Medical College Patiala
in September 2004, our department is now organizing their 'updated
sequel'. This sequel, named AIRWAY-2005 will be held on February
18th to 20th, 2005 and we look forward to your participation
in more ways than one.
You will agree that despite much progress in the field of Resuscitation
and Anesthesiology, failure of airway management still remains
the single largest cause of morbidity and mortality in emergency
and perioperative situations when the patient is ill-equipped
to maintain his own airway. Review of the ASA Closed Claims
Project data suggests that the most frequent cause of anesthetic-related
morbidity and mortality is the failure to adequately manage
the airway. To minimize such happenings, regular update of skill
is required; particularly in view of fact that a variety of
new gadgets are available and keeping in mind that all roads
do not lead to bronchoscopy.
This year we have split the course into two segments, Basic
(for all medicos, interns and final year students) and Advanced
(for anesthesiologists, intensivists and pulmonologists). This
segmentation has been based on the feed-backs at the end of
last year's ventures.
The first thing I will like you to know is that you and your
experiences are our most important USP! All of us (you and us)
have experience of encountering situations and problems related
to airway management. During AIRWAY-2005 we endeavor to further
our education in this important field by retrospective analysis
of these clinical situations that keep expanding our knowledge
base. Our commitment towards this objective remains undiluted.
We invite you and would be delighted to share your experiences
with the other participants and experts.
In addition to the tried and tested video-based presentations
and the hands-on sessions of the last year, the course this
year has newer topics (see attached Program), and more scenario
based discussions.
We would like to take this opportunity to urge you to spread
the good word about our venture amongst all medicos around you.
Please go through the attached Program, the Registration Form,
and our website. If you want any more information, please do
not hesitate to communicate on any of the email addresses/phone
numbers.
With best regards and good wishes
Yours truly,
Prof. Rakesh Kumar
